Meals

We provide all freshly cooked meals daily, prepared by our cook, consisting of a nutritional balanced menu. Our menu has been in consultation with the Australian Government Guidelines – Get Up & Grow: Healthy Eating and Physical Activity for Early Childhood. The menu consists of at least 50% of a child’s daily-recommended dietary intake of nutrients, including the five food groups. We provide morning tea, a two-course lunch consisting of a hot main meal and a light dessert, afternoon tea, and supper at 4.30pm along with cow’s milk, soymilk. Water is provided throughout the day and is available at all times. Cultural and religious beliefs are respected when planning, preparing and serving food, and any specific cultural, religious or health requirements are accommodated.  Our menu is displayed in each child’s room, accurately describing the food and beverages provided each day. Please ask our Director for a copy of our menu and the various meals we supply.

Unfortunately, our menu cannot be taken off the premises. Children’s self-help skills are encouraged through independent feeding, pouring drinks and setting the tables (older children). Children and staff (a small portion of what the children are eating) eat lunch at the children’s tables, encouraging a pleasant social atmosphere and the development of table manners. It is a policy of the centre that no food or beverage (except breast milk/formula) be brought into the centre. This is to prevent any possible allergy complications.

Chilverleigh Early Learning is also a nut- free centre to prevent the risk of allergies.
